For example, sleeping at night and\nremaining awake during the day is a circadian rhythm. You might be surprised at\nhow much your sleep can influence your body\u2019s rhythm as well as its hormonal\nchanges, eating habits, body temperature, digestion, and the development of\ncertain health conditions, such as:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Diabetes<\/li><li>Obesity<\/li><li>Depression<\/li><li>Sleep disorders<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How Can a Disruption Lead to Problems with Your Health<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Whether you suddenly awake in the middle of the night or you\nhave trouble falling asleep, your body\u2019s circadian rhythm is thrown off,\ncausing your behaviors to fall out of line with your normal internal clock.\nWhile you would normally \u201cfast\u201d while sleeping, if you wake at 3:00 in the\nmorning, you might find yourself at the refrigerator looking for a nighttime\nsnack. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This change in your body\u2019s normal function can result in the\ndevelopment of various health disorders, most of which are preventable,\nincluding diabetes and obesity. Not only does this make it difficult for your\nbody to process sugar correctly, but it can increase your chances of diabetes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Not to mention the amount of time you might spend on an\nelectronic device of some sort (i.e. cell phone, television, tablet, computer).\nThese wonderful, yet, extremely harmful pieces of technology are causing people\nto stay awake longer, resulting in the normal circadian and biological clocks\nto adjust. These blue lights you find yourself entranced with can disrupt the\nmaster clock and change many of the habits we were once accustomed to (i.e.\neating at a normal hour, forgoing snacking while asleep at night). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to a study published in the <em>International\nJournal of Obesity<\/em>, those who ate later in the evening had a much more\ndifficult time losing weight than those who ate earlier. This suggests that the\ntiming of a person\u2019s meals can dictate how well they succeed with a particular\nweight loss program. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you think sleep is underestimated, guess again.
